From France to Northland

Bonjour! We’re Noémie and Alan, the couple behind La Patisserie.

Our story began in 2013, when we met at culinary school in Provence, France. We both discovered our love for pastry and hospitality when we were young, and spent the following years working in high-end hotels and restaurants across France, England and New Zealand. Those years taught us how much the little details matter, not only in the food we make, but also in the way people are welcomed.

We came to New Zealand in 2017, looking for a new adventure. It brought us to The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs in Matauri Bay, where Alan became Executive Pastry Chef and was recognised as a finalist for Best Pastry Chef at the Cuisine Good Food Awards. What was meant to be a work adventure slowly became our life. We settled near Kerikeri and knew that Northland was where we wanted to build our future.

In 2022, La Patisserie began in our home kitchen. Our idea was simple: to share the French food we grew up with, made properly, and to bring a little piece of France to Northland. But it may never have happened without a few special people who believed in us, encouraged us to take the leap and helped us make it happen. People we are now very lucky to call friends.

What started with deliveries and local markets grew into our first little café in Waipapa, supported by an incredible community who kept coming back, bringing friends and helping La Patisserie grow.

Today, La Patisserie has a new home at 582 Kerikeri Road. Although we started the business, what La Patisserie is today is created by a whole team. From the early mornings in the pastry kitchen to preparing food, making coffee, welcoming customers and everything happening behind the scenes, every team member brings their own skills, care and personality. They are a huge part of the magic of La Patisserie, and we are very proud of what we’re creating.

Together, we want La Patisserie to be somewhere you can relax, meet a friend, bring your family, celebrate something special or enjoy a beautiful pastry and coffee. More than anything, we want everyone who visits us to feel genuinely welcome and looked after.

La Patisserie has become our way of sharing a little part of who we are and what we love, and we’re very happy to share it with you.

Bienvenue à La Patisserie.
